The University of Derby is offering a funded MPhil/PhD studentship in the Institute of Education and Skills, focused on the Philosophies of Education. This opportunity is open to outstanding postgraduate research candidates from all countries interested in exploring the philosophical foundations of education systems in England and Germany.
Project Focus
The research investigates the contrasting traditions of English and German philosophies of education, tracing their socio-political roots and implications for current educational practices. It explores the evolution of educational theory through figures such as Wilhelm von Humboldt, John Dewey, and R.S. Peters, and themes including neo-humanism, utilitarianism, performativity, and neo-liberalism.
