Privacy Policy

Privacy policy last updated: 26 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sagblog collects when you visit sagblog.com, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We have written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us through the contact page.

Who we are

Sagblog (https://sagblog.com) is an independent website that publishes information about scholarships, studying abroad and visa sponsorship jobs. The site is run by Micheal, its founder and editor, from Nigeria. For this policy, “Sagblog”, “we” and “us” mean the site and its operator.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message when you contact us.
  • Comments: the name, email address and comment you submit, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which help us detect spam.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our servers and the third-party services described below may collect technical information. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you and the date and time of your visit. Cookies and similar technologies collect some of this information.

Cookies and your consent

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. For example, we use:

  • Necessary cookies that make the site work and remember your cookie choices.
  • Advertising cookies set by Google and its partners to show and measure ads.
  • Analytics cookies, where enabled, to understand how visitors use the site.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message before non-essential cookies are used. You can accept, reject or change your choices at any time through the cookie settings link on the site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. However, some features may then stop working.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Sagblog uses Google AdSense to show ads, because ads help us keep the site free to read.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • If you do not consent to personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement.

To learn more, read how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Analytics and other Google services

We use Google Search Console to understand how the site appears in Google Search. Search Console reports search data to us in aggregate and does not identify individual visitors. Where Google Analytics is enabled, it collects information about how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed and time spent. We use this in aggregate to improve our content. Our sidebar includes Google’s “preferred source” button, which loads a script from Google when the page opens.

Spam protection and embedded content

Akismet, an anti-spam service run by Automattic, may check comments. For this reason, it receives the comment, your IP address and browser details. We may also send an anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) to the Gravatar service, so it can show your profile picture if you use one. In addition, articles may include embedded content, such as videos, from other websites. That content behaves as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you under its own policy.

How we use your information

  • Replying to your messages and publishing your comments.
  • Running, securing and improving the site.
  • Showing ads and measuring how they perform.
  • Meeting our legal obligations.

Importantly, we do not sell your personal information for money. We do not ask for passport numbers, bank details or payment information, and we never charge for scholarship or visa information.

Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we rely on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies. We rely on our legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and preventing spam, and to reply to messages you send us. Where the law requires it, we process data to meet a legal obligation. You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings link.

Visitors in Nigeria

We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. You have the rights listed below, and you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Visitors in the United States

Some US state laws, such as California’s, give residents rights over their personal information. These include the right to know what we collect, to request deletion and to opt out of the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Ad cookies set by Google and its partners may count as sharing under these laws. You can opt out through the cookie settings link or Google Ads Settings.

How long we keep information

  • Contact form messages: up to 12 months after our last reply, unless we need them longer to handle a complaint.
  • Comments: kept for as long as the comment is published.
  • Cookies: for the period set by each cookie. Ad and analytics providers keep data under their own policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent at any time;
  • receive your data in a portable format.

To make a request, use our contact form and choose the subject “Privacy request”. We will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

International transfers

Because we use international services, our hosting provider and Google may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, these providers use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Children

Sagblog is written for adults and older students planning further study or work. It is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

To protect the site, we use HTTPS and keep its software updated. However, no website can guarantee complete security.

Links to other websites

Our articles link to universities, government agencies and other official sources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so read their policies when you visit them.

Changes to this policy

From time to time, we may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
