University of Liverpool Humanitarian Master’s Scholarships 2026 – Fully Funded for Refugees and Displaced Students

The University of Liverpool is offering fully funded Humanitarian Master’s Scholarships to support up to two international postgraduate students who have sought protection outside the UK. This initiative enables eligible candidates to access high-quality education and supportive services while pursuing a one-year taught Master’s degree (MA or MSc) starting in 2026.

Scholarship Value

  • Full tuition fee waiver

  • Accommodation costs covered

  • Stipend up to £18,688 to support living expenses

  • Transportation from the student’s current location to Liverpool

  • Arrival support, including a Meet and Greet service at Manchester Airport

  • Additional benefits, such as visa support, language assistance, and discounted gym membership

Note: Support is only available for the student. Family members are not covered.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have official Refugee Status or Humanitarian Protection outside the UK under the 1951 UN Refugee Convention

  • Be Ukrainian nationals with EU Temporary Protection status, or Palestinians registered with UNRWA

  • Be able to provide documentation verifying their refugee or humanitarian status

  • Apply for a full-time, one-year MA or MSc programme (excluding Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Nursing, or other clinical programmes)

  • Be eligible for and able to obtain a UK Student Visa

Application Timeline

  • Deadline to apply for a course: 31 January 2026

  • Scholarship application opens: 15 March 2026

  • Scholarship application closes: 1 May 2026

  • Notification of scholarship outcome: Mid-June 2026

  • Latest notification date (if unsuccessful): 1 August 2026

Important Notes

  • The scholarship is subject to securing a Student Visa.

  • Visa costs (application fee: £524 and healthcare surcharge: £776) must be paid upfront and will be reimbursed upon arrival.

  • A UK bank account is required to receive the stipend. Students should budget for the first 2–3 weeks of expenses before stipend payments begin.

  • Support such as food and clothing vouchers is available if required upon arrival.

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply for a one-year Master’s course by 31 January 2026

Step 2: Once you receive a conditional or unconditional offer, complete all conditions promptly

Step 3: Apply for the scholarship between 15 March and 1 May 2026 using the online form (available from 1 April 2026)

Step 4: Submit required documents, including proof of humanitarian or refugee status via email (instructions provided in the application form)

Only applicants with unconditional offers or fulfilled conditional offers are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
