The Exeter Excellence Scholarships take £3,000, £5,000 or £10,000 (three, five or ten thousand pounds) off first-year tuition for international Masters students. The round open now is Round 4, for students starting in January 2027. The deadline is Thursday 26 November 2026, and you’ll hear back by 10 December 2026 at the latest.

The award reduces only your first year’s fees. It doesn’t repeat in later years.
Who can apply
- You need international fee status, including EU applicants who pay international fees.
- You need a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible taught Masters starting in January 2027.
- You can’t have applied in Round 1 or 2 for September 2026 entry on the same programme.
- Exeter judges academic merit and typically expects the equivalent of a UK 2:1.
Only the listed campus-based MSc programmes in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy qualify. Postgraduate Certificates and Diplomas, degree apprenticeships and online or distance programmes are excluded.
How to apply for the Exeter Excellence Scholarships
- Apply for an eligible January 2027 programme and get your offer.
- Fill in the scholarship webform on Exeter’s funding page.
- Write a personal statement of up to 300 words that answers three questions: your ambitions, what you’d add to campus life, and how you’d act as an ambassador.
- Submit by 26 November 2026.
Worked example: how the discount stacks
Exeter lets you combine this award with a University of Exeter PGT Scholarship for listed countries, up to £10,000 in total.
Say Rohan from Mumbai wins a £5,000 Excellence Scholarship and also gets a country scholarship. We use £5,000 for that second award purely as an example, so check the real amount for your country. Together that’s £10,000, which hits the cap. If he’d won the £10,000 Excellence award instead, the country award couldn’t add anything more, because £10,000 is the combined maximum.

September 2027: the £15,000 Exeter Excellence Scholarships
For September 2027, Exeter is offering 150 Excellence scholarships of £15,000 (fifteen thousand pounds) off first-year fees. They’re for self-funded international fee payers with a 2:1 or equivalent and an offer. You apply by webform after your offer arrives. Round 1 closes on 28 January 2027, with results by 25 February 2027. You can’t combine it with other Exeter scholarships.

Deposit and English
Exeter’s international deposit for 2027/28 is £2,500. If your offer is made by 31 January 2027, it’s due on 1 April 2027. English requirements depend on the course profile. For example, Profile B1 asks for IELTS 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each section, and Profile B2 asks for 6.5 with at least 6.0.
