UCB Sustainable Development Scholarship 2027: 25% Off Masters Fees

University College Birmingham (UCB) takes 25% off the first-year tuition of international Masters students who can show a real interest in sustainability. The Sustainable Development Scholarship runs for three intakes. The nearest one is February 2027, and its deadline is 31 October 2026, so apply now if you’re aiming for that start.

Sustainable Development Scholarship deadlines

Who can apply

• Overseas fee payers from any country.
• Applicants with at least a 2:1 or equivalent.
• Full-time postgraduate (MA or MSc) students. Part-time and distance learning courses don’t qualify.

How to apply for the Sustainable Development Scholarship

1. Get an offer for a full-time Masters at UCB.
2. Fill in the online form for your intake, with a personal statement about sustainability.
3. An academic panel assesses it and emails you the result.

Two conditions matter. You must pay a deposit of at least £1,000 (one thousand pounds) within 14 days of your offer, or UCB withdraws the scholarship offer. If you win, you’ll report on your sustainability progress to a panel and may help with events, marketing and testimonials.

Worked example: what 25% saves

Ebuka from Port Harcourt wants a February 2027 MSc. Say the first-year fee is £16,000 (sixteen thousand pounds); this is only an example, so check your course page.

• 25% of £16,000 is £4,000 (four thousand pounds).
• He’d pay £12,000 (twelve thousand pounds) for the first year.

UCB fees for 2027/28 and what 25% saves

UCB has raised its Masters fees for 2027/28. Two examples:

So the Sustainable Development Scholarship saves £4,500 (four thousand five hundred pounds) on these courses. Both were £17,500 in 2026/27.

Deposit and CAS payments

UCB asks for a £1,000 deposit within one month of your offer. Scholarship winners must pay it within 14 days of the scholarship offer instead. Before UCB issues your CAS, you must have paid at least 50% of the full fee.
