The Keele Postgraduate Global Scholarship gives self-funded international students a one-off tuition discount of £3,000 to £5,000 (three to five thousand pounds), depending on their degree result. The current page covers 2026/27 entry only and says it can’t be used for any other year, so Keele’s 2027/28 version isn’t published yet. Here’s how the award works.

However, Keele doesn’t publish how it converts international grades, so ask admissions how your result maps to these bands.
Who gets the Keele Postgraduate Global Scholarship
- Self-funded students paying overseas fees.
- Students on a taught postgraduate course of at least one year, at PG Diploma level or above.
- It doesn’t cover the PGCert, PhD, MPhil, PGCE or fully online courses.
Also, it’s automatic, with no form and no stated deadline, and you can’t combine it with any other Keele award. Keele also lists a £10,000 GREAT Scholarship for specific countries and a progression scholarship of £3,000 to £5,000 for Keele International College students.
Worked example
Emeka from Owerri has a 2:1 and starts a one-year Masters at Keele. Under the 2026/27 rules, he’d get £4,000 off automatically. If he also qualified for a £10,000 GREAT Scholarship, he’d have to choose, because the Global Scholarship can’t be combined. For visa planning, see our UK student visa financial requirements guide.

You pay in two halves, in October and January. Keele also caps any 2026/27 rise at 5%. So a Public Health MPH student with a 2:1 would pay £13,100 (thirteen thousand one hundred pounds) after the £4,000 discount, by our own calculation.
Other Keele funding for international postgraduates
- GREAT Scholarship: a £10,000 (ten thousand pounds) fee discount for students from specific countries.
- Chevening and Marshall: a full fee waiver plus a monthly stipend.
- Truman: a 50% fee discount.
- Keele alumni discount: 20%, or 10% for online courses.
Remember that you can hold only one Keele award, so pick the most valuable one you qualify for.
How to apply and pay your deposit
- Apply online through the “apply” link on your course page. There’s no application fee.
- Upload your personal statement, transcripts, a reference and English evidence. Keele doesn’t accept medium-of-instruction letters. Our personal statement guide can help with the first item.
- Expect a decision within about 20 working days.
- Pay the tuition deposit: £4,000 for most overseas applicants, or £8,000 for Pakistani nationals. Sponsored students send a financial guarantee letter instead.
Keele’s general entry rule is a UK 2:2 or equivalent, and each course page sets its own English scores. International applications for September 2026 have already closed, so aim for a later intake.
Visa and living costs on top of tuition
- Student visa fee from outside the UK: £558 (five hundred and fifty-eight pounds).
- Immigration Health Surcharge: £776 (seven hundred and seventy-six pounds) for each year of your visa.
- Money to show for living costs outside London: £1,171 (one thousand one hundred and seventy-one pounds) a month for up to nine months, so £10,539 in total. You must hold it for 28 days in a row.
